Are you, or someone you care about, considering counselling?

It is my heart-felt wish to help by providing experienced and compassionate counselling. I draw on a variety of counselling approaches and techniques in order to help you to use both your mind and heart, your reason and emotion, as you deal with whatever situation is challenging you.

I have two university degrees including a Master's in Counselling Psychology completed in 1991.  I also completed a one year internship under supervision and further exams in order to become a Psychologist in Alberta.  Since that time, I have attended professional workshops to maintain and enhance my skills.

From 1992 to 1997, I worked as a Psychologist at Cornerstone Counselling Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. I had a private counselling practice in Prince Rupert, British Columbia,  from 1997 to 2009. After taking time off to travel with my family, I began a counselling practice in Victoria in 2011.  Since September 2012, I have been registered with the BC College of Psychologists.

In 2004, I received training in a special technique for dealing specifically with traumatic memories. Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR) can be very helpful both to clients with recent traumatic experiences and to those with traumatic memories from the past. While it can be very helpful for those with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), you do not have to have PTSD to find TIR helpful; any memory that is interfering with your life can be helped with this technique. I have used TIR to help individuals who have been in vehicle accidents and experienced work related injuries. I have also used it to help people who were abused as children or who lost loved ones and could not get over their shock and grief.

For those who wish, I am also experienced at providing counselling from a Christian faith perspective.
